May Book Club Summary:
The New Wilderness By Diane Cook

This May we read The New Wilderness. The New Wilderness takes place in a dystopian, nearly apocalyptical future where civilisation, living in a giant city crumbles under climate change and pollution. But a small group of people take part of an experiment to live in the last, vast wilderness, to demonstrate that people can live in nature without destroying it.

There are interesting concepts in the book regarding the ways in which we engage with the world around us; and how we shape our experiences of nature through the human lens. Overall, the group enjoyed the book and loved the focus gender, belonging, identity and what it means to be human.

Overall, we gave the book 3.5/5.
